Specialty Descriptions

Are you ready to take the fight to the Saturnians?

If so, then you belong among the mathematical combatants. Martian Marines are the tip of the spear. Smaller than infantry, they are the first to go into battle. They are masters of the multiplication tables and add and subtract like pros. The bulk of the Martian forces serve in infantry. They conduct large field operations and are the deciding factor in any battle. They are all equipped with full multiplication tables, ready to tackle the largest of problems. Artillery provides support to the infantry with their prime number cannons that can factor large numbers.

Are you a mental mathemagician?

All special forces are masters of mental mathematics since they have to operate without logistical or artillery support. The Black Berets train indigenous forces behind enemy lines. Martian Recon sneak behind enemy lines and collect intelligence on the enemy forces. The Martian Rangers are there to do the really hard jobs like long division and long multiplication.

Do you like to fly?

Pilots all fly spacecraft and must perform quick calculations while in flight. Star fighters dog fight in space at high speed. They must have lightning-fast mathematical reflexes to counter enemy sorties. Soldiers must be lifted off the battlefield with rockets. Astronauts must calculate the right amount of thrust as they lift off planets and moons with differing amounts of gravity. If you can’t hit escape velocity, then you won’t make it off the planet.

Not every member of the Martian Army is a combatant. Non-combatants engage in a variety of peaceful missions and exploration.

Do you want to be an explorer?

Starship captains are in charge of a starship that travels far away to distant worlds. The helmsman steers the spaceship at the direction of the captain. The navigator plots the starships course to take the captain where he wants to go. Engineers work in the engine room onboard starships, so if you like getting your hands dirty, this might be the right job for you. Every starship needs several science officers to conduct various experiments on distant worlds.

Do you like building things?

Engineers do just that. Civil engineers design and construct everything from large cities to small moon bases on distant outposts. Space engineers specialize in constructing things off-planet like space stations.

Are you a member of the royal family? A prince or princess?

Each starship carries a member of the royal family as an ambassador to distant worlds. The ambassadors speak on behalf of Hypotenuse Prime, so what they say is law.

Whatever specialty you pick, we always cross-train in the Martian Army, so you will learn a little about each job.
